15th February, 2003 - Leaving Sankei-en, we jumped on a train to go to Soji-ji...one of the largest temple complexes in Japan... part of the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism. This temple was relocated here only in 1911 - so historically very young.
I will leave the pictures do the talking.... all I can say is that we were pushing it a little today after all the walking around Sankei-en, and whilst there are some nice views and a feeling of peace at Soji-ji. The strange thing was... that after seeing the crowds at Sankei-en (hmmm - maybe we were careful with our photo-taking)... Soji-ji truly did feel deserted. There were only a handful of people to witness the passing of day to evening...
The great Sanmon gate...
Cats feel at ease around temples...
Dusk nears
A Zen moment...
Jizo... protecting and lighting the way...
One of the great halls...
Where a little bit of gold is good for the soul...
Tsukareta! (I'm tired). With one last hurrah... we make it to a cafe - and I immerse myself in a very, VERY LARGE coffee. Don't ever let me say that Japanese can only make small (half-filled) coffees again!O'tsukaresama-deshita!... and a good night to you all. Time to go back to Tokyo...
